9. Cancellation, Rescheduling, and Session Length Policy

At Tutor Advance, we respect both our clients’ time and our tutors’ professional commitments. To ensure fairness, consistency, and efficient scheduling, the following policy applies to all tutoring sessions booked through Tutor Advance.

By booking a session, clients agree to the terms outlined below.

i. Cancellations (Applies Equally to Clients and Tutor)

  • Either party may cancel a scheduled session by providing at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session rate, except in the case of a genuine emergency.

  • Cancellations due to emergencies will not incur any charges, provided notice is given as soon as reasonably possible.

ii. Emergencies

An emergency is defined as an unforeseen and unavoidable circumstance that makes attending the session impossible. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Death of an immediate family member (parent, sibling, child, spouse, or grandparent)

  • Severe illness or hospitalization requiring urgent medical attention

  • Physical injury resulting from an accident

  • Power or internet outages that prevent participation in an online session

  • Extreme weather events or natural disasters that disrupt normal access to services

Minor illnesses, general fatigue, or scheduling conflicts that could reasonably have been anticipated do not qualify as emergencies.

Tutor Advance reserves the right to request reasonable confirmation in exceptional cases.

iii. No-Shows

  • A no-show is defined as failing to attend a scheduled session without prior notice.

  • No-shows will be charged the full session fee.

  • Repeated no-shows may result in suspension or discontinuation of tutoring services.

iv. Rescheduling

  • Rescheduling refers to changing the date and/or start time of a booked session.

  • Rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

  • Requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be treated as a late cancellation, and the original session fee remains payable, unless the change is due to an emergency.

v. Shortening a Session

  • Shortening refers to reducing the duration of a booked session (for example, from 60 minutes to 30 minutes).

  • Requests to shorten a session must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

  • If a request is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, the fee for the originally booked duration remains payable, unless the change is due to an emergency.

vi. General

This policy exists to ensure fairness, protect reserved time slots, and allow Tutor Advance to provide consistent, high-quality tutoring services.
